The Apple iPhone Madness
Some say the Apple iPhone is the most mediatized gadget in the entire history of electronic gizmos. Even though we can’t really check this, i tend to agree with them, as today, a little less than 24 hours before the "big moment", all i can read about on my feeds is about it. The big moment is June 29th, 2007, 6 PM, American time, and that’s when the iPhone will be released.
The event was well prepared by Apple, who has unveiled to the world tiny pieces in the last weeks, pieces that will soon complete the big iPhone puzzle. But, what’s the fuss about it? It’s after all just a mobile phone… Or am i wrong? We’re not going to review the iPod here, practically because i was not one of the people who had it before the official launch, we’re just going to take a short look on this "iPhone madness" that has grown lately.

Steve: We’re launching the most revolutionary and exciting product in Apple’s history this Friday. And given Apple’s legacy of breakthrough products, that’s saying a lot.
We’re in New York City at Apple Store Fifth Avenue near Central Park, more than 100 hours before the launch. And someone is already in line for it. Oh yeah!. Even big names like PlayStation 2 or 3 didn’t have a 100-hour lead time waiting queue. So i guess the iPhone will create pure madness in front of Apple shops tomorrow. All 164 Apple retail stores in the US will be closed tomorrow before 6 PM in order to prepare the event and will then stay open until midnight. Each customer can purchase up to two iPhones on a first come, first served basis. I’m guessing that a couple of people would be needing medical assistance tomorrow, when the lines will burst inside the stores, as the effect is even bigger then the Walmart spring sales. It’s huge!

Apple Store Fifth Avenue - one of the battle grounds
Of course, if you have the cash and don’t want to waste your time standing on those huge lines, you could buy the iPhone from eBay. It’s only 1200 $ bucks, twice it’s shop price… Or you could buy it from an Apple employee, as they’re going to get iPhones for free. Damn it!
Since i don’t live in the US, I’m not going to be on those lines, but what if i were… Who would have won between the struggling desire of having an iPhone no matter what the cost and the wise decision of waiting a couple of days for the waters to clear, and then buy one if it proved to be good enough. It’s hard to know. For now, we have to just sit tight and wait… The iPhone Madness will be over in a couple of days…
