Surounded by crapy eBooks
I’ve noticed a trend lately. Everyone debuts its brand new blog with an Ebook. What kind of eBook? Well, one that teaches you how to make different taks: how to make money, how to setup a SEO blog, how to monetize properly your site, how to become an Affiliate expert, etc, etc, etc.
Why am I writing about this subject? Because I’ve read lots of books in the last week but i don’t really feel like i’ve learned anything new. It seems to me all these books contain the same information, only written differently. So i ask the authors of these books (i won’t give names though), what’s the purpose of writing a book as long as you don’t bring something new, something valuable, to your readers?
We’re living in a world dominated by marketing schemes. A proper marketed product or service will be successful, no mather if it’s worth it or not. You want examples? I can give you hundreds. Let’s just take the iPhone, Coca Cola or Windows Vista… And that bothers me. Cause i don’t want to live in this world, i like to think before buying and i would like the products I acquire to be really useful and not just a bunch of crap in a sparkling foliage…
But we were talking about ebooks. I’m bothered because the names and the descriptions always sound intriguing, but the taste in my mouth after paying for them and reading the whole content is kind of bitter… So, how can you distinguish the good books from the others? One way would be to buy only the books published by authorities, like Aaron Wall’s SEOBook or Perry Marshall’s Adwords Guide.
But besides that? What other criteria do you take into consideration when deciding if an eBook is worth buying or not? And don’t say an "expert’s" advice or the buzz created in the blogosphere by that book… I’ve been fooled earlier by these motives, so.. No more!

I have also looked at my share of crappy EBooks. Enough is enough already. Perhaps we should just stick with the proven experts until the “New Experts” prove they really are experts by providing good and original site content, not just the fluff they have been providing.
yea, but i do tend to believe that the already consecrated experts don’t share the important things in their books. That’s why i keep ending up with the crappy books, hoping they would contain new tricks I did not know… But most of the time all i get is disappointment
I have to agree with you totally on this one. How do you distinguish between good books and bad books? It’s easy. All of them are crap, except for the ones you mentioned. Not only they are crap and they don’t provide quality info, but they also sound like they’ve been written by 2 year olds. Also, their Grammar is usually an offense. Look at all the gurus: John Reese, Mike Filsaime, bla bla bla, yada yada. They are all illiterate “Marketers” who do nothing else but feed upon people’s illusions for a bright Internet Marketing future, making them believe that making millions online is as easy as 1-2-3. To me, these guys are illegal and some kind of authority should be created in order to regulate it. Because the sales letters indeed sound very good, but they are nothing more than a manipulative pitch that makes people create crappy products.
Sorry for the few mistakes I made but I was in a writing frenzy as I am very disgusted by these schemes.

[…] why don’t i have enough trust in Perry Marshal to buy his book, even though so many people recommend it? Perhaps because I’ve been burned too many times. […]
