Blogging guide: What does blogging mean?

A post written by Mike and published in Uncategorized

You’re venturing on a road that will teach you how to become a good blogger and how to get a couple of money out of this. But first, let’s see what a blog is.

According to Wikipedia, "a blog (a contraction of the term "Web log") is a web site, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order ".

What does this mean? A blog is just a site, where the owner posts whatever he or she wants: text, pictures, videos, etc. Each thing written is called a post, and the posts are displayed in reverse-chronological order – the latest post is the first in the list.

Starting a new blog: the beginning

A post written by Mike and published in Blogging on Wordpress

A couple of years ago I’ve heard a friend telling me about blogs. I didn’t quite understand what they were, i just consider them some kind of online journal where you can write publicly whatever you want. And others find your lines, read them and then comment. And then you go reading other blogs too, make a couple of friends, write some more and become a member of the big blogosphere family. And so on.

But then i found out blogging can be a business too.

When do you know it’s time to give up?

A post written by Mike and published in Blogging on Wordpress

When to give up?I believe i have a problem. I am a very bad looser. Actually, i don’t to like to loose at all, at nothing. I don’t even get the idea of "playing just for fun". No, i play to be the best :) . But that’s not exactly the subject of this post, is just a preamble to the next lines

During the last two years I’ve started a couple of online projects. Some of them worked better than the others, some didn’t work at all.

Black Friday 2008 – 2 weeks notice

A post written by Mike and published in Gadgets and gizmos

Just two more weeks to come till the shopping event of the year. This year’s Black Friday is still a big mystery to everyone.

A couple of the big retailers have already made their ads public, but most of them are still waiting. And some are using obscure tactics, like Best Buy, who launched their ads yesterday and whose offers suck so bad that they can’t be true. They will surely have better deals in two weeks, or at least they should if they want to sell anything.

I just came across the new Amazon Kindle 2. I know, the first pictures leaked a couple of weeks ago, but it seems I’m not so up to date with the world of gadgets anymore…

Anyway, you can see below a couple of pictures with the old and new Kindle side by side. Let’s take a moment and compare them.

US crisis and the incoming Black Friday

A post written by Mike and published in Away from the PC

I’ve been following closely all the news about the US crisis that later on spread to Europe too. And that’s because i was really curios how would this crisis affect this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales period.

It seems the crisis does not stop people from buying plasma TVs, gadgets, iPhones and stuff like this. Also, a sales period will attract even more customers now, when money are a problem.

Nokia Tube – the iPhone contender

A post written by Mike and published in Gadgets and gizmos

Nokia TubeI know, there are others too, like HTC Touch Pro and Diamond, like the new Samsung Omnia, etc. But, i played with every one of them and they have one big problem: are kind of sluggish. But, i have great expectations from this Nokia Tube, the first phone made by the Finnish on a S60 Touch operating system. And considering how fast is the S60 on e51 or N78…. well, it will kick ass! :P

Yahoo looks forward for a brand new facelift

A post written by Mike and published in Rummaging the WWW

It seems the guys at Yahoo are really struggling to revive their flagship: the portal. Thus, a couple of pics of a brand new front page redesign were released online today, looking for the public reactions to this new look.

I for one don’t use any of the services on Yahoo except its mail, but this one also has lost a lot of ground in front of Gmail in my preferences list. But, if i would be a regular Yahoo user, i believe i would appreciate the new design that seems to be more light-weighted and with less intrusive elements present on the page.
