WordPress duplicate content might lead you to supplemental results ruin

A post written by Mike and published in Blogging on Wordpress

Wordpress brings supplemental resultsYeah, WordPress is the most popular CMS used by bloggers everywhere these days, but so few of them know anything about one of its biggest issue, duplicate content. Duplicate content from where you might ask? Well, from the way this CMS organizes its pages and posts. Theoreticaly, Google should be able to index a number of pages a little bigger than the number of total posts on a blog, but it’s not entirely so, as WordPress also creates lots of additional pages for archives, author, categories, search, etc. So we end up with several pages having the same content, and that lead into getting many of your pages in Google’s supplemental results.

Wireless screen on your contact lenses

A post written by Mike and published in Gadgets and gizmos

Wireless screen in your contact lensesThe idea of having a monitor on your contact lenses seems pretty great, especially when we’re talking about a high resolution display (2560 x 1600 px ) equivalent to a 30 inch screen. I’m not sure if this would be even possible, as the human eye cannot physically focus on something situated so close to your iris. But, the idea seems pretty interesting.

The screen has a wireless power generator, small as a pager, that can be worn in your pocket. The device also acts as a video and audio wireless emitter, so you won’t have to carry too many things around. Two lenses could be worn on the same time, thus creating a 3D model image, that will be visible even when you close your eyes. Of course, if you want you can shut down the screens, in which case the lenses would act like some regular blind ones, allowing you to see beyond the virtual universe created by the display.

What’s wrong with you, Apple fans?

A post written by Mike and published in Gadgets and gizmos

What's wrong with you, Apple fansI love some of the Apple products, and especially the new MacBook Pro. I would trade my Asus laptop to one of this in no time, as it looks so good and has so many functions. Unfortunately, it’s way to expensive, from the start, with the 15.4" model starting from 2000$.

But that’s not the point. I was surfing the Apple Store this morning, trying to configure the ultimate MacBook Pro and i couldn’t stop staring when i saw how much would cost me having 2 GB of RAM extra. 750 $. Are you kidding me? You could get an entire low class laptop for this kind of money, and they are asking so much for a mere memory DIMM. Omg…

Al Gore’s Inconvenient truth – documentary or political propaganda?

A post written by Mike and published in Away from the PC

An Incovenient TruthI’ve watched last night a film i was dying to see for a while, Al Gore’s "An Inconvenient Truth", who treats the subject of global warming and its katastrophal effects, and I must say I’ve not wasted the 90 minutes of my life by doing that. Not at all. The movie has two parts, the great and well focused documentary and the cheap melodrama. So, as a whole, we have a good result.

Make Money Online – John Chow’s style

A post written by Mike and published in My Reviews

Make Money Online - John Chow styleI’ve been reading John Chow’s blog, Make Money Online,  for a while and i always liked his posts. The guy claims to be a Dot Com Mogul, and from what I’ve read here, he surely has an idea about what it takes to succeed in the online business.

I’ve spotted the "Review Me" feature on JohnChow.com a couple of months ago, but i didn’t really wanted to profit from it until i would have become a dedicated reader. I have to admit that my favourite category on John’s blog is "Make money online". Actually, searching this phrase on Google will get you a top result for the blog, and that’s something, considering we have more than 250 million results here… This makes me confident the guy knows what he’s talking about, so i keep reading his posts and note the ideas, in order to put them on practice sometime in the future on my own blogs.

Band of the day: Sixpence None the Richer

A post written by Mike and published in Away from the PC

Sixpence none the richerAfter having a tough night, my day was changed a little by a song from the bus. So, I’ve decided to write about this band, Sixpence None the Richer, which many of you already know of course, as they used to be famous a couple of years ago.

Guitarist/songwriter Matt Slocum and vocalist Leigh Bingham Nash are the people behind this band. As for their songs, they are great. I haven’t listened to all their work, but tracks like “Kiss me”, “There she goes” and “Don’t dream it’s over” are really mood saviours for me.

How much till you can start thinking about monetizing?

A post written by Mike and published in Making Money Online

How much till you can start monetizing? On my ventures on my favourite forum, DP, I tend to find a lot of topics where people are concerned about how much money their blog makes. Or actually how much it doesn’t. So, I’ve been asking myself this question: "How much till you can start thinking about monetizing?".

Many people start sites/blogs with only one thought on their mind: making big bucks very fast. They put up together a site, some content and a lot of Ads. That’s how MFAs are born. Of course, in a couple of weeks or at best months, they give up, cause things aren’t going as they expected. So, let’s say something clear :"It’s hard to get a good site". It takes a lot of work, dedication, time and again work. And don’t expect to pay off in the near future, cause it won’t. But, after a year or two, if you have done your job well, the results will start appearing.

Holly guacamole. 100 mil $ for a skull?

A post written by Mike and published in Rummaging the WWW

100 mil $ for a skullThanks to the guys on Core77 i found the most expensive skull in the world. It didn’t belong to any famous Egyptian pharaoh and it’s not old even very old. So what’s the catch? Well, we’re talking about a 19th century skull plated in platinum and encrusted with 8601 diamonds, weighting over 1100 carats all together. This work of art (or so they say?!?), is the most eccentric design of Damien Hirst, the famous British artists, and bares the name "For the Love of God".

“4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days” wins Palm d’Or at Cannes

A post written by Mike and published in Away from the PC

"4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days" wins Palm d'Or at CannesPalm d’Or is the ultimate prize a movie can get at The Cannes Film Festival, the European version of the Oscars. Many say that the movies presented here are even better than the American blockbusters, but you can’t really compare them, as these one are more focused on the story and acting quality, while the others marge a lot on famous figures and special effects. Anyway, Palm d’Or this year was won by the Romanian Cristian Mungiu, with the film "4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days".
