Nokia Tube – the iPhone contender
I know, there are others too, like HTC Touch Pro and Diamond, like the new Samsung Omnia, etc. But, i played with every one of them and they have one big problem: are kind of sluggish. But, i have great expectations from this Nokia Tube, the first phone made by the Finnish on a S60 Touch operating system. And considering how fast is the S60 on e51 or N78…. well, it will kick ass!
That’s why, for the first time in the last year, i really feel that this one might be a noticeable iPhone contender, with great functions, combining Nokia’s S60 fiability and speed with a touch interface.
Anyway, the Nokia Tube has come a long way from the early concepts. You can see one of them in the picture below, another one being Nokia Aeon. Although we don’t know how will it look exactly, we’re sure it won’t be as spectacular as these concepts.
But it will be smart, and will bring:
- 3.2 inch screen with 640 × 360 px resolution
- 3.2MP camera with Carl Zeiss lenses and auto-focus
- GPS, HSDP, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity
- 3.5 mm audio jack
- great web browsing capabilities
- enough RAM and internal memory storage

I find it a little bit dull looking. It resembles Omnia, a phone with no personality, while HTC and Apple make phones with incredible looks. But at least it’s not as ugly as the Google G1 Phone…

Anyway, the Nokia Tube is scheduled to be launched on October 8. If it will be a success, we shall see, but for now, i still have great expectations from it… And am hopping for a decent price tag too…

I actually tried it out at a trade show, and it’s pretty sweet. Your right though about the asthetics. Looks boring as hell but very functional and easy to use.
This is so cute and beautiful. And I think it has many new features that are advanced in nature. Thanks for sharing your interest.
I have to admit I see the HTC HD has a contender also but the Nokia tube is definately decent.
