Microsoft’s Surface computers to be sold for more than 5000 bucks

Posted by Mike on June 1st, 2007

Microsoft SurfaceMicrosoft brings us Surface computing, a new technology that requires no keypads or mice, that reacts to fingers and everyday objects. Everything is brought closer to the user, on the digital coffee-table-shaped "surface computer". Bill Gates may have stepped down from his CEO position, but his ideas are always present, and this new gadget might represent for the future what Windows was for the past.

Microsoft Surface, which has a 30-inch display under a hard-plastic tabletop, allows people to touch and move objects on screen for everything from digital finger painting and jigsaw puzzles to ordering off a virtual menu in a restaurant. It can also recognize and interact with various external devices that are placed on its surface, allowing you a multitude of choices and options. A phone for example can be used to share music, photos, make plans for the evening, exchange cards and so many more.

Actually, there’s really no room for words here, as the movie will show you what an amazing technology this is. Microsoft is planning to sell the Surface for sums between 5000 and 10000 bucks each for now, but it assures us that the prices will drop in the next years, as the product is intended to become one available and affordable for the vast majority of people worldwide.

  1. ONE of the stupidest ideas ever!! I mean, you are going to dedicate an entire table top to a computer and why? I dont really get the point or “excitement” about this……

  2. I tend not to agree with you my friend. The idea is great and has can be used in many ways. I agree it’s not incredibly practical, but is surely entertaining

  3. I like the idea. I do agree there is a since of this all together around the table thing that seems impractical. I think this systen would benifit DJ’s resteruants . eg. order from table , table is menue and you can pay for the check , nice. Well why not do some advertizing there too.
There are alot of potential gains and perhaps a little hype.
