Google Zeitgeist 2007 is here

Well, if you we’re looking for the most searched keywords and phrases on Google for 2007, the Zeitgeist (the spirit of the times) is here. A very valuable resource after the latest Top Yahoo 2007 Trends that was released a couple of weeks ago.

The results are somehow expected but these statistics are not so thorough as i would have hoped. Anyway, top 10 risings is dominated by iphone (globally, not just in the US - kudos to Apple for this), with other terms like Facebook, Youtube, Badoo, Hi5 (all of them social networks) and Second life and Penguin club (virtual worlds). What does this mean? People like to spend their time on the WEB more and more, and they like getting in touch with others while they’re doing this. Is it benefic? Well, i doubt it… I prefer the classic coffee chit chat.

As for the Google News Most Popular Searches, it won’t surprise anyone that Britney Spears, Anna Nicole Smith and Paris Hilton are on top of charts, as people tend to enjoy gossips…

From  the All the rage section we find out that Wii beats the hell out of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (but we already knew that), HD-DVD is more searched than Blu-ray (although Blu-ray disks are better) and that people are more interested in LCD TVs than plasmas (i reckon that’s because of the price).

Last but no least, this Zeitgeist really offers some good info in the last section, the "how" questions. I really found some good keywords here with high traffic potential and low competition. So, I’ve already purchased a couple of domains and I’m going to build some mini sites/blogs on them as soon as I’ll have the time. Perhaps you should take a look too, who knows what you might find…
