I’m wondering what do you think about Google’s latest PR Update. Expected in August, it came in October and with lots of changes. The motto of this update was "Let’s take the paid links down". Thus many sites and blogs that sold/bought links were hit hardly. Here’s how i see it.
Mot of the paid directories had their PRs reduced by 2-4 points. The only ones that seem to have escaped yet are Yahoo Directory, Business, Jayde and BOTW. All of them are old and established domains though. The other were hit, thus all the links from them lost a lot of their weight.
When you’re starting something, a blog, a business or even a game, you want to become successful. But, how can you measure success? We’re only going to talk about blogs here, so here’s what i think are the best ways of measuring success:
1. Number of RSS Subscribers
If someone subscribes to my feed that means he finds what i write interesting. It means he wants to continue reading my stuff and that he appreciates me, so that’s why i really believe the number of RSS Subscribers is the best way to determine a site’s success. And is one of the first steps into creating a community.
That’s why you should place easy to spot RSS badges on your pages and should ask people to subscribe if they want to. Don’t be too intrusive though.

I just hope people won’t start harassing me with emails about link exchanges. I’m not saying i didn’t do them too back in my time, but now link exchanges are just not worth anymore… That’s it
