I recommend everyone to listen to what Matt Cutts has to say as well as read all of Eric Ward’s articles as they will give you better insights into today’s SEO efforts than most.

It’s a sad day for SEO vendors who like to do the easy work and make easy money, but a victory for SEO professionals who truly do the grunt work.

The only ones who I wish TOTAL INTERNET DEATH for is companies who hack educational sites and post a bogus page link to emulate a .edu link to their site.
