Become a master in mass persuasion

Posted by Mike on March 15th, 2008

Every Internet marketer comes face to face with the problem of convincing its readers to buy the promoted product. And if you would ask me, this is the trickiest part in the whole scheme.

Most of you might say the hard part is to find the right product an the right niche. Well no, because you will definitely not find something anyone else hasn’t think about before. So you will have to face your competition and be better than they are. After you managed to bring traffic to your landing pages, then starts the real tough part. How can you make them buy? Well, by becoming a master in the art of persuasion and a very skillful copywriter.

Of course, you can always use the services of a third party copywriter, but that will be expensive for sure and it won’t always bring the best results. Thus, it is better to do it yourself, as long as you know how. Jay Abraham is one of the guys with plenty of experience in this domain, and he will show you in the video below (video first seen here) exactly how to put together great content, by using Amazon.com for inspiration.

First of all, you need to go to Amazon and find the category that contains the product you want to promote. Scan all the first dozens of headlines and sub-headlines of the products there and put down on a piece of paper the ones you find interesting. You will end up with quite a couple of them. From this list, pick only the ones truly inspiring. You are going to use them as headlines for the content on your page, or as categories for your site, etc. It is crucial to use these headlines on your landing pages, in order to summarize the content. Why? Because most pages are quite long, and your target buyers might find it difficult to read all the stuff you write there. Thus, with the help of some subtitles that will catch their eyes, you will guide them thourgh the content and help them find the info they are looking for.

Now, after you’ve set up your headlines, you need to focus on the content. And the easier way to write proper persuasive content is to know what your audience needs. How can you find this out? From Amazon. Go to the top products in the category chosen before, click on them and go to the users reviews. These are reviews written by ordinary people, that will show you exactly what they liked and what they hated about the product. Again, make two lists, with the positive arguments on the left and the negatives on the right. Thus, you will be able to show your readers why is your product the best (the good parts) and you will be able to use the negative opinions to convince your audience this product is not like all the others. Of course, mastering the way of putting all this info down the page takes time, but at least you have a starting point.

As you get proficient at copyrighting, you will be able to write even better persuasive texts. But this technique, along with some others I’ll be writing about later on, is what a beginner copywriter needs in order to create medium quality content. So, if you’re a noob in affiliate selling, creating your landing pages with this method, might be one of the best decision you’ve made so far.
