Adsense earnings going down?

Posted by Mike on February 21st, 2008

Like many others claimed in the last weeks, the AdSense earnings seem to be going down all around in this first quarter of 2008. Thus, many of us will start thinking if it won’t be a good idea to try some other ways of monetising, or even replacing AdSense all together (Like Mr John Chow).

I for one, I’m trying to focus a lot on Affiliate marketing. I’m kind of a newbie in PPC, but I’m going to try to rely more on organic traffic, and put the paid traffic on a second position. Anyway, Amit (one of the big fish in this market) had a great article on his blog about how to get started as an affiliate. Unfortunately for me, Clickbank ain’t a solution, as they don’t accept publishers from Romania. Azoogle too rejected my appliance, although i was qualified, because they don’t accept any more sites from Romania FOR NOW. But they’ll get in touch with me once they do… Yeah Right!

These being given, i would have to focus on the plain old Commission Junction and Amazon Affiliate Program (i already use them, but I’m not satisfied at all by their fares…) Anyway, Amit points out the basic things you need to know before venturing in Affiliate marketing. But his article treats more the "Direct Link" method, which means buying traffic direct to the vendors page. I would like to focus on the "home-made" landing page method, which means creating a mini site around the landing page, SEO full proof, thus creating the opportunity to attract organic traffic as well.

All i have to do now is find some deep and unexploited niches. And of course that is the biggest problem. My area of expertise, Internet marketing, SEO, technology and electronic gadgets is way too saturated, thus i will have to point my attention in some other directions. Luckily, my good friend WordTracker gives me a helping hand :P

So, if you want to know how will my experience start in this new and uncharted territory for me, stand by and don’t forget to subscribe. If you too are new in this, don’t hesitate to contact me, perhaps we can chat on AOL or YM and learn more together. ;)

Oh, and if you’re looking for some other ways of making money online besides AdSense, here you can find more than 20.

  1. Hey Mike, thanks for posting this..now i know :)

  2. Hey, great points made here. When someone from a country like Romania can make money online as you do, many other people in “easier” countries really don’t have an excuse. I never really thought of how hard it would be for common websites such as ClickBank to not accept you because of the country you live in.

I noticed you said you have been approved for CJ, have you ever looked into eBay’s affiliate program? They are very good, and very easy to make a good profit. I have some strategies regarding it if your wanted me to go over with you sometime.

Anyway, great info on your blog it is a good read–keep up the great work!

  3. Yea Jon, most of the Affiliate services won’t accept publishers from Romania. I guess we have a not so great reputation…

And no, i haven’t tried Ebay yet, but I’ll take a look. I’d love to chat more about this subject sometime :)

  4. I agree. My earnings have really gone down from adsense over the last few months. I was thinking about an affiliate program. Thats for the great article and I will be looking into it.
