A couple of changes
As you can see, Mike’s Quarter suffered a couple of minor changes this morning. And they are not over, as more are to come in the following days, including maybe a new theme, if I’ll get the time to build it from scratch.
Let’s see what those changes are:
- I’ve joined the Blogrush network. Not sure how this is going to increase my visitors number, but, what the heck, i thought it would be alright to give it a try. I’ll get back with some resutls in a couple of days. But if i won’t be satisfied, the badge will go down asap, as some people on DP claim it violates Google Adsense TOS. So… better safe then worry
- The "Do Follow" era is over. I decided it was time for me to deactivate the Do Follow plugin, as i tended to get comments pointing to a lot of crappy sites, like porn, viagra, etc. And since i didn’t want to get penalised by the all mighty Google…
- "Top Commentators" plugin is ON from now on. A list of Top Readers will be placed on the bottom of each page, in the footer. So, if you want to get there, don’t be shy and leave some interesting comments.
- Out of curiosity, I’ve decided to join Text Link Ads and Review Me . I don’t expect to make a lot of money from them, I’m just experimenting with online money making solutions
How would Google possibly “punish you” for using the Do Follow plugin? All it does is add a REL tag into the URL.
Also, some advice…if you want more traffic, then fill your blog full of content instead of using the majority of your space for every kind of ad scheme known to the blogosphere. I’m ranting on your blog right now, yes, and I apoligise for this, but I’m sick of the AdSense-ification of most of the sites I come across. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING pisses me off more than having to scroll down past Google ads simply to get to content. It’s bullshit, people. You won’t make any real money with it! Google, however, will thank you all the way to the bank.
Thanks for letting me rant. My comments are really for a large percentage of sites out there right now, and not just yours.
I think that I will simply get an RSS reader that I like and subscribe to sites that way, thereby bypassing all of the AdSense garbage and of course, robbing you of your hits and ad impressions.
Craig, that’s why I’m offering a full feed RSS. The ads may seem a little bit intrusive on the shorter posts, but few of them are short after all…
As for the first aspect. Why i took down Do-follow: because i got spammed with comments that had nothing to say, just for the links, and because my site ended up linking to bad sites. And if I’m not wrong, linking to bad neighbourhood sites will get you penalized by Google.
Great for side wide links:)
I’d like to subscribe via email but not sure how to do that. Can you explain please?
Blogroll links aint that great
but i am not the admin?
? Just Telling
they’re not that bad either, you know
Why Do People Buy the Kindle Electronic Book Reader ?
i tried textlink ads and everyone was complaining about the pop ups, so i stopped using them.
