2010 – new road, new challenges?

Crossroads

Another year has passed and we’re now in 2010. Here comes the part where i wish you all the best, but I’ll be short, you probably don’t have time for this. Be careful about one thing though, health is your most important asset, so don’t jeopardize it. All the other things can be achieved one way or another, if healthy.

2009 has been a good year. Personally not so much, but professionally it was perhaps the best in my life: i finished college, gained lots of experience in my field of expertise and really opened my eyes on what i want to do in the near future (at least). I can only hope 2010 will be even better. Because i believe there’s time for me to go on another path.

I was looking on the similar post I made last year, about the plans and thoughts for 2009. It was pretty obvious i didn’t have a precise target. Hopefully, that changed. I’ve given a lot of thought lately, i still have to work on details, but i believe there’s time for a change, a new challenge. I won’t get into details right now, the good part is that i have quite a lot of options and i could work on some very interesting projects this year, mainly on .com . And that’s always important, especially these days.

However,in order to succeed, i have to work on a couple of things:
- first, my people skills. I’m trying my best to study human behavior and improve my communication skills. Why? Because such skills are a must as a human being and also a must in my line of work: knowing exactly what people need in given situations is the only way to offer them the required thing and make them convert (convert may sound harsh, it’s more like helping them feel better via the means you can provide) ;
- then, my ability to focus. I talked about it in a previous post, and i still believe this is a key ingredient in order to succeed ;
- also, my ability to accept that many people are better than me in many domains and the only way to go further is by growing a team where anyone knows what has to be done, and can do it .

Last but not least, i have to set up goals. Tangible goals that can be attained and do my best in reaching them. Both professionally and personally. And i would advice you to do the same. It’s easier to see your progress in life if you can set quantifiable and traceable targets, don’t you think?

That’s about it. I’m curios on what your plans and expectations for 2010 are. Did you set your goals, or will you just go with the flow?

  1. Good article Mike…
    2009 has been good for me, hope 2010(the new road to success) will be better. Since last year i had never created a plan(goal), but this year i have set a goal for myself and i wanted to make it sure. your article gave me little boost. thanks for the article mike…

  2. I am smiling right now because during my reading, I got the feeling you were in a box all alone and you were about to be released and needed to brush up on your social….etc.

  3. I like your post,it seems you are a health conscious person,which is very impressive. I also likes to be healthy. This year I’m setting new goals and then trying to achieve them.And, off course I’ll be keeping my self healthy cause that’s a prerequisite to achieve goals.
    What say !!!!

  4. Course need to set goals.
    Go to the goal and of course to acquire new skills and knowledge in order to dream (plans) to implement and to believe in success.
    But there are moments when you can not do anything and how to swim with the stream “river life ” but it has its own meaning and nothing happens just sometimes many events lined up as it should be, not as we imagine, is expected.

  5. Good post.I agree, staying healthy is top priority.Marketing online means sitting on your ass many hours per day.So, I do the following.I write a post in the morning, then I go out for a walk or do some other exercise.I feel a lot better about my self and get much needed energy to keep going.Best of all, I get new ideas for posts.

  6. Excellent – I agree setting and sticking to targets is key.
    I so far am hitting my targets for 2010 and I’m really enjoying this fantastic business.
    People skills is very important, sound interesting you taking it to the next level by studying human behaviour.

  7. I am good at goal setting – just not so great at keeping to them. Just like New Year’s Resolutions, my goals tend to fizzle out. I could do with an app that pins them to my screen so I cannot get away from them! Anyone know of one?

  8. You can use Sticky Notes in Windows 7. That’s what i have on my desktop :P

  9. Hi Mike,
    It is indeed a good post. It appear that 2009 went quiet nicely for you. I hope that 2010 should go much better. I am highly impressed by your ideas and your positive attitude.
    Bye,
    Rithun

  10. Nice post Mike. I really respect you attitude. You are indeed very straightforward and have a positive attitude. I wish you every success in life.

  11. Lol these days people talk more about 2012 :p

  12. You have a superb goal. Congratulations. Good luck in business

  13. I always set plans, never go with the flow but 2009 was a bad one for me! In May I was launching both a full time tiling business and a part time piano teaching business along with a touch of ebaying and delivering chinese meals at the weekends when I had a motor accident. The cops took my car and my phone and bang, all my money earners except ebay went up the shoot! Lost me well over £50k this past year. I am starting again with a new internet business building websites and learning to draw traffic to them. It’s slow, but at least the cops won’t get me this time! Good luck to y’all half way thru this year: are you still on track or have you quit? Gone another path? I always stick to my intentions but you never know what is round the corner – maybe it is wise to have a fall-out plan!

  14. “- also, my ability to accept that many people are better than me in many domains and the only way to go further is by growing a team where anyone knows what has to be done, and can do it .”

    Crazy talk:)!
